More than 90 charges have been laid against a man for alleged fraud by falsely taking advantage of COVID-19 and natural disaster state government funds totalling nearly $840,000.

The 42-year-old Greenacre man was on Wednesday issued with a court notice for 91 counts of dishonestly obtaining "financial advantage by deception, and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime".

Police said on Thursday they will allege he submitted fake applications and pocketed $246,450.

He also filled out applications for $590,550 for schemes that were not approved or paid.

Investigators with Strike Force Sainsbery, established in November last year tasked with catching fraudsters, uncovered a significant number of fraudulent NSW government grant applications submitted.

These included the 2021 COVID-19 micro-business grant, small business fees and charges rebate, JobSaver payments and rental support payments.

The Greenacre man will appear at the Burwood Local Court on July 6 as investigations under Strike Force Sainsbery continue.
