Movie theaters have been dominated by franchise films for years, but the pandemic has crunched the past couple of years worth of blockbusters into one bonanza year at the box office (apart from the ones that are delayed until 2023). 
These are the latest dates for your calendar as we celebrate the big films (and hopefully a few smaller ones) hitting the big screen and streaming services in 2022 and beyond.

Black Panther, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are among the superhero flicks hitting the big screen later this year. There are also new movies from older franchises like Jurassic World: Dominion and Avatar 2: The Way of Water. Luckily, original flicks will arrive as well, including Jordan Peel's Nope, Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon and an unbelievably cast of massive stars in Amsterdam.

But delays are still happening: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Mario movie, The Rock's Black Adam, Aquaman 2, and The Flash are all postponed, while Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 have been pushed back multiple times.

It's been tough to keep up with all the changes to the movie schedule during the pandemic, from the everything-gets-canceled start through the delta variant and then the omicron surge.
